Things to do in Duncan

Duncan is the "The City of Totems" with over 80 totem poles around the entire town with 40 easily accessible by picking up a self-guided Totem Tour map at the local tourism information centre. Duncan has a large First Nations community and is the traditional home of the Cowichan Tribes, who are the largest band among the Coast Salish people.


The Coast Salish men and women of the Cowichan Tribes are makers of the world famous Cowichan Sweaters, and you can experience authentic First Nations’ traditions and cuisine at the Quw’utsun’ Cultural Centre. Families will enjoy the British Columbia Forest Discovery Centre with displays depicting our forestry industry and a steam train ride. According to the Guinness book of World Records, Duncan has the world's largest ice hockey stick which is on display on the side of the local arena.
